Introduction

 

We're growing and require new Assessors! Assessments Australia (a MAX Solutions company) provides the Assessment Service for the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD-AS) for the Victorian Department of Education and Training in the categories of Intellectual Disability (ID) and Severe Language Disorder with Critical (SLD – CEN) Educational Needs. Staff and contractor assessors conduct cognitive and language assessments in state government schools to ascertain eligibility to apply for support under the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD). 

 

The opportunity

  • Conduct cognitive assessments in schools and complete comprehensive reports according to PSD and Assessments Australia's requirements.
  • Ongoing professional learning.
  • Occasional travel to remote and regional areas within Victoria, with some overnight stays if required (accommodation costs and meal allowances are provided).
  • Flexibility to write reports from home, required to attend our Melbourne CBD office a minimum of once per month. You can be based almost anywhere in Victoria to be eligible to apply.
  • Mobile phone, laptop and assessment tools will be provided.

 About you

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Minimum 12 months experience conducting standardised assessments: WISC, WAIS, WPPSI
  • Experience working with school aged children and adolescents
  • Strong assessment and report writing skills (quality and efficiency)
  • Ability to prioritise, plan and organise workflow to tight time frame, handle multiple tasks and be flexible with changing priorities
  • Proven high level IT literacy, particularly in common applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), database and web usages
  • Hold or can obtain a new Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
  • Willingness to provide two de-identified assessment reports

PD - Staff Assessor - Psychology PSD-AS

 

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this position require the successful candidate to:

 

  • Fully understand the scope, outcomes and deliverables of the assessment process
  • Fully understand eligibility criteria for the two PSD-AS categories (i.e. ID and SLD-CEN)
  • Conduct high quality assessments in schools, working to an average of 1.2 assessments per working day, with recognition that travel commitments and the demands of the individual case may impact on this number
  • Travel to regional areas to conduct assessments, as required, including overnight stays
  • Provide high quality reports to schools with clear outcomes regarding PSD eligibility and appropriate recommendations
  • Provide relevant and tailored feedback to parents regarding assessment results, implications, and recommendations
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competence with a variety of assessment tools to meet the needs for each referral
  • Communicate regularly with the Support Team regarding workload and capacity for allocations
  • Work flexibly to meet the fluctuating needs of the program throughout the year
  • Work independently to manage workload and make informed clinical decisions; involve others when appropriate and after utilising personal resources
  • Support senior psychologists to screen referrals, peer review reports, and audit test record forms, and provide relevant feedback - as required
  • Support the project to ensure that it delivers appropriate results that are in keeping with all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Contribute to discussions around continuous improvements to the delivery of the PSD-AS
  • Participate in training and professional development activities as required
  • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum 12 months experience conducting standardised assessments: WPPSI, WISC, WAIS, Vineland
  • Experience working with school-aged children and adolescents
  • Desirable but not essential is experience in the education, special education, or disability fields.

 

Qualifications/Requirements - Mandatory

 

  • Full registration as a psychologist with AHPRA

Our induction and training will provide you an understanding of these principles, including having an understanding of children’s developmental needs and culturally safe practices.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check

Qualifications/Requirements – Preferred but not essential

 

  • Reliable vehicle and full driver’s licence.
