Project/Position Introduction



Based across our Mount Druitt and Penrith offices, we are currently seeking a Participation Plan Officer within our ParentsNext team.


This important role works with disadvantaged parents to assist them in identifying their education and employment goals and developing a pathway to achieve these goals by linking them to activities and services in the local community. You will be required to build and maintain successful relationships with various community organisations and RTO's in order to best assist our customers.


What is ParentsNext? The ParentsNext program is a government initiative designed to assist eligible parents to plan and prepare for employment by the time their children go to school.  It operates in all non-remote areas of Australia.

The opportunity

  • Empower our customers by helping them identify individual education and employment goals
  • Develop participation plans with parents using motivational interviewing techniques 
  • Provide our customers with career advice and labour market information on local employment and education opportunities
  • Deliver engaging and relevant group work sessions relevant to workforce re-entry, studying and common barriers for parents
  • Collaboratively identify strategies to meet individual needs using a holistic approach
  • Engage with the local community to build relationships and coordinate and refer our customers to community agencies

About you

  • You have the ability to build lasting relationships within the community
  • Your high level of interpersonal communication, strong organisational skills and commitment to customer service will ensure your success
  • You have an awareness of  the vulnerabilities and challenges for parents with young children to engage and participate in education and pre-employment programs
  • You have an empathetic approach and are able to build trust and rapport 
  • You have knowledge and experience of case management practice from a strengths-based and solution-focused perspective
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People or Children Check (or equivalent)
