  • Overview

    This position exists to guide both the day to day delivery of services and the strategic planning operation for MAX Training as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The incumbent would assume full accountability for performance, compliance, credibility and the people culture of this function relating directly back to the MAX vision. Additionally, it will hold full accountability to plan and manage revenue, margin and expense to targets.  This position is responsible for guiding the culture of MAX Training to be customer focussed and aligned to actively support the organisations strategic outcomes. This will involve developing strong collaborative relationships with external bodies and government departments, to deliver improved business and student outcomes, to grow the RTO and to influence innovation in educational delivery.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and promote a strong internal customer service culture, ensuring the approach of the Function is responsive to the operational and strategy needs of the organisation
    • Full P&L responsibility to plan and manage revenue, margin and expense to monthly / quarterly targets
    • Manage the ongoing compliance across all areas of the RTO and its relevant contracts such as state based funding / Government contracts
    • Manage the provision of training to all cohorts of students in blended, online and face to face environments
    • Develop and manage the workforce to deliver training services across all course on scope and to enrolment targets
    • Define the strategy of training with the wider executive of MAX
    • Engagement with the broader business functions such as HR, IT and Marketing for integration and alignment
    • Engagement with and management of outcomes for clients of Employment Services
    • Facilitate forward planning to identify sustainable revenue streams for training (accredited/non-accredited/B2C and B2B)
    • Define and manage KPIs for the function in line with revenue targets
    • Oversight of student services both academic and administrative
    • Workforce management for the MAX Training team including development of individuals and succession planning
    • Planning training and assessment strategies and student resources
    • Lead and oversee student volume forecasting activities including; budget (revenue and expense), courses, enrolment volume by course and by location, planning and rollout of face to face training, HR planning aligned to student volume and administration processing aligned to forecast
    • Positively and constructively represent our organisation to external contacts at all opportunities
    • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures
    • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

    • Up to date knowledge of the statutory authority requirements of an RTO to ensure compliance in line with the organisation’s standard operating procedures and external reporting requirements.

    Required Experience


    • Background in RTO management at a senior level
    • Experience leading an RTO through an audit/extension to scope/state funding contract audits
    • Extensive experience in providing strategic leadership and influencing and leading change in complex organisations
    • Proven experience with managing and oversight of the P&L
    • A strong understanding of compliance related to the management and operation of an RTO
    • Strong commitment to the principles underpinning good governance and sound financial management
    • The capacity to identify and control risks to the organisation that fall within the realm of MAX Training
    • Experience with reporting to and developing strategies at Executive level
    • Significant management experience in training services provision at a strategic operations level.


    Qualifications/Requirements - Mandatory


    • At least 5 years in a senior role leading a training function
    • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check. 


    Qualifications/Requirements – Preferred but not essential


    • Relevant tertiary qualification.
