    Position Overview


    The Business Development Officer will have responsibility for Client and Participant acquisition, recruitment and account management, working in conjunction with Smart Skilled and Hired Youth Consultants to support young people to improve their employment potential. You will lead on new business generation and support the growth of the Participant and client base generating employment opportunities within the Sydney Greater West Labour Market. You will be the driving force behind generating new business and participant leads, identifying and proactively contacting prospects and developing strong relationships is an essential part of the role.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Identify and proactively outreach to potential clients and decision makers, engage with employers, industry and community services to market the Youth Employment (YE) Program: Smart Skilled and Hired
    • Foster strong professional networks aimed at benefiting MAX Solutions as a whole
    • Develop relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to identify and target new business opportunities
    • Identify referrals, jobs, skills gaps and training opportunities for participants
    • Procure vacancies that provide sustainable outcomes for participants
    • Promote MAX Solutions integrated products and services as related to Smart Skilled and Hired
    • Ensure a strategic Regional approach to employer and participant engagement
    • In conducting Business Development activities, maintain operational and contractual compliance for Smart Skilled and Hired Program
    • To develop an excellent understanding of employer’s employment environment, vacancy requirements including skills and cultural fit
    • Produce high quality vacancy advertisements that clearly demonstrate vacancy and employer requirements to action prompt and appropriate referral action
    • Business Development including building referral base to program
    • Participate in professional development and training as required
    • Participate in MAX Solutions meetings and network functions as required
    • Communicate with clients in a professional manner as per MAX Solutions quality standards
    • Liaise with service providers as required to ensure effective collaboration is undertaken to achieve successful outcomes for both parties
    • Ensure all KPI’s are met including targets, outcomes and all service requirements
    • Conduct administrative activities consistent with Smart Skilled and Hired contractual and legislative requirements, and MAX Solutions philosophy and quality standards
    • The adherence to KPIs set for BDO function
    • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures
    • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders
    • Advanced communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
    • Experience in working with youth is desirable
    • Commercial and labour trend awareness of Western Sydney Region
    • Awareness of barriers to employment
    • The ability to overcome objections posed by potential employers.

    • Awareness of vulnerabilities to employment and effects of unemployment and underemployment on youth
    • You will be a highly motivated individual who excels in achieving targets and delivering results. You will be a mature minded individual with a high level of interpersonal communication and organisational skills
    • It is essential that you are able to develop and maintain excellent relationships both with external and internal stakeholders
    • You will possess a proven ability to communicate effectively across various industries and educational institutes while maintaining a professional and ethical representation of the organisation
    • The ability to maintain and grow business
    • You must be able to provide effective strategies to positively assist both the job seekers and employer to secure a successful outcome for filled vacancies
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Anti-discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity, Occupational  Health and Safety, Privacy and Freedom of Information
    • Computer skills – Intermediate Word, Excel, Internet & email.

    The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

    Required Experience


    • Experience in interview, job matching and assessment procedures
    • Experience working with special needs groups such as people with a disability, non-English speaking background, drug and alcohol dependency, homelessness, domestic violence and psychological disorders is desirable
    • Previous experience in Account Management and or business development is essential.


    Required Experience


    • Hold a current and clean driving licence
    • Hold a current Working with Children Check
    • Participation in professional development and training as required.
