    Overview

    The Try, Test and Learn Health Services Officer (HSO) is responsible for providing vulnerable youth (17-24years) innovative, flexible, person centred clinical services.  Education/employment assistance and support that is focused on the achievement of life goals and education/career aspirations.

     

    This role works in conjunction with a range of stakeholders to deliver health solutions to support ongoing sustainable education/employment. You will be required to conduct a variety of functions including assessments, individual and group interventions, case reviews and peer support to key stakeholders and sustainability programs to youth demographic.

     

    HSOs will be required to assess and provide intervention for complex cases and may have responsibilities for participants in education/employment to support their induction, training and independence. This will take place in collaboration with the TTL Case Worker and Program Manager.

    Responsibilities

     

     Key Responsibilities 

    • Deliver evidence based individual and group discipline specific services, including assessments, vocational assessments and counselling services (where discipline appropriate) that are consistent with MAX Solutions philosophy and quality standards
    • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists and rehabilitation counsellors
    • Undertake assessment of education/employment capacity with an awareness of physical and personal vulnerabilities of the client
    • Understand and practice the principals of caseload triage and prioritisation
    • Providing services that are evidence based and solution focused for vulnerable youth engaged in education and/or employment
    • Working as part of a pilot program to achieve goals of the organisation
    • Ensuring all administrative requirements are adhered to including all written reports and internal / external invoicing
    • Marketing and promotion of MAX Solutions services whilst maintaining a high profile and professional company image
    • Ensure case notes and all other documentation is in line with minimum contractual standards and the MAX Solutions Health File Storage, including adherence to relevant professional and ethical board guidelines
    • Maintain and reporting statistics relating to the provision of service
    • Contributing in the proposals for future health services business
    • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures
    • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

    • An empathetic, supportive and motivating approach with the ability to build trust and rapport with people

    • A demonstrated ability to think outside the square to ensure participants are assisted to move forward in their journey towards education/employment.

     

    Key Skills

     

    • Mature minded with a high level of interpersonal communication and organisational skills
    • Ability to overcome objections and break down education/employment barriers that exist for vulnerable people
    • Experience in delivering efficient and effective strategies to positively engage with VET Providers and community providers to build sustainable relationships
    • Awareness of vulnerabilities to employment and the effects of limited education and unemployment
    • Effective positive problem solving and conflict resolution skills
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Anti0discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity, Workplace Health and Safety, Privacy and Freedom of Information
    • Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, Access, Internet and Email.

     

    Required Experience

     

    • Evidence based practice and previous counselling experience
    • Clinical intelligence and neuro-psychometric testing where appropriate
    • Clinical and vocational counselling for participants engaging with vocational activities
    • Solution focused clinical intervention that links to employment
    • Cognitive behavioural therapy and other modes of evidence based practice
    • Employee Assistance Program including counselling and critical incident debriefing
    • Liaison with medical and community health services
    • Experience in Occupational Rehabilitation and liaison with case managers, training/worksites and participant’s.

    Qualifications/Requirements - Mandatory

     

    • Qualifications in Psychology or another allied health discipline
    • Completed domestic and family awareness training such as DV-alert provided by Lifeline or other similar such training agencies is essential
    • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check

     

    Qualifications/Requirements – Preferred but not essential

    •  Research or training experience
    • Current Driver’s License.
