Position Overview

 

This role is responsible for linking quality occupational/vocational rehabilitation services to occupational goals.  This role works in conjunction with a range of stakeholders to deliver return to work solutions to both Government and Private industry Workers Compensation schemes (e.g. COMCARE). This role conducts a variety of functions including vocational assessments, initial RTW assessments, workplace assessments, facilitated job searching, return to work plans, reverse marketing, case reviews, peer support to our stakeholders and sustainability programs with employers.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Delivering individual services, including assessments, vocational interventions, vocational assessments; that are consistent with MAX Solutions philosophy and quality standards
  • Providing services that are evidence based and solution focused for job seekers/injured workers returning to work
  • Working as part of a health services team to achieve goals of the organisation
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists and rehabilitation counsellors
  • Ensuring all administrative requirements are adhered to including all written reports and internal / external invoicing
  • Marketing and promotion of MAX Solutions services whilst maintaining a high profile and professional company image
  • Maintaining and reporting statistics relating to the provision of service
  • Contributing in the proposals for future health services businesses
  • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately
  • Liaising with management for quality of service delivery, mentoring and discipline specific supervision
  • Participating in and delivering professional development, case review meetings and training as required
  • Involvement and participation in MAX Solutions meetings and functions as required
  • Other duties as negotiated.

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

Other Discipline Specific Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Assessments for physical work capacity including an awareness of multidisciplinary barriers
  • Functional capacity testing, ergonomics and worksite assessments where appropriate
  • Occupational and vocational rehabilitation including ergonomic audits, work site assessments, return to work or suitable duties plans, case management/rehabilitation plans, education and training
  • Solution focused evidence based rehabilitation links to employment
  • Liaison with medical and community health services.

 

 

Occupational Rehabilitation Consultants will be responsible for ensuring that the following regulations, standards and codes are complied with:

 

  • The Company’s Quality System
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Particular Contract and Funding Deed specifications including participation reporting as required
  • Code of Conduct MAX Australia and Departmental Complaints Procedure
  • Relevant legal, professional and ethical obligations.

  • Occupational/Vocational Rehabilitation and liaison with case managers, worksites and job seekers
  • Clinical and vocational counselling for job seekers returning to work
  • Solution focused vocational and return to work interventions that link to employment
  • Exceptional Communication (oral & written), negotiation and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Understanding of barriers to employment and effects of unemployment
  • Effective, positive problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Commercial and labour trends awareness
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Anti-discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity, Occupational Health and Safety, Privacy and Freedom of Information
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills including ability to work to schedules and reporting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work to Key Performance Indicators.

 

Required Experience

 

  • Experience in either Occupational Therapy, Vocational/Occupational Rehabilitation, Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Counselling and Mental Health (minimum 1 year post registration)
  • Evidence based practice and previous occupational/vocational rehabilitation experience
  • Previous experience in Compensable return to work services (e.g. COMCARE, WorkSafe OES/NES etc).

 

Qualifications (state if Mandatory)

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy/Exercise Physiology/Physiotherapy/Psychology with membership/registration within the relevant State or National Professional Board (e.g. AHPRA, ESSA) are essential
  • COMCARE accreditation and provider number
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent).
