The Business Development Officer will work in conjunction with Employer Service Consultants located in dedicated Employer Business Centres to action vacancies through to sustainable placement. You will provide Account Management Services to existing accounts and employer and develop new business opportunities within a region.


  • Proactively procure vacancies and seek new business opportunities
  • The adherence to KPIs set for BDO function
  • To provide Account Management services to existing accounts and employers and develop new business opportunities within an EBC Region
  • Foster strong professional networks aimed at benefiting MAX Employment as a whole
  • Develop relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to identify and target new business opportunities
  • Procure vacancies that provide sustainable outcomes for job seekers
  • Promote MAX Employment integrated products and services
  • Ensure a strategic Regional approach to employer engagement and servicing activities and a coordinated approach across the EBC and MAX Employment sites within the Region
  • In conducting Account Management and Business Development activities, maintain operational and contractual compliance for Employment Programs
  • To develop an excellent understanding of employer’s employment environment, vacancy requirements including skills and cultural fit
  • Produce high quality vacancy advertisements that clearly demonstrate vacancy and employer requirements to action prompt and appropriate referral action
  • Business Development
  • Relationship Management including localised arrangements for Major / National Accounts
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all stakeholders (including ESCs, Vacancy Champions, RMs) to ensure vacancies are actioned and filled in a timely manor
  • Administration requirements including the use of Salesforce and MAX-CONNECT
  • Action the JPC Hours collection documentation and ETIP documentation as directed by the Employer Service
  • Consultant to secure the relevant signatures within the required timeline (Note this will no longer be required once transition in to the new contract 1st July 2015 has been actioned)
  • Action Post Placement Servicing requirements as directed
  • Participate in professional development and training as required
  • Participate in MAX Employment meetings and functions as required
  • Communicate with job seekers in a professional manner as per MAX Employment quality standards
  • Liaise with external providers as required to ensure effective collaboration is undertaken to achieve successful outcomes for both parties
  • Ensure all KPI’s are met including targets, outcomes and all service requirements
  • Conduct administrative activities consistent with Employment Services contractual and legislative requirements, and MAX Employment philosophy and quality standards

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

Required Experience:

  • Experience in interview, job matching and assessment procedures
  • Experience working with special needs groups such as people with a disability, non-English speaking background, drug and alcohol dependency, homelessness, domestic violence and psychological disorders is desirable
  • Previous experience in Account Management and or business development is essential


  • Hold a current and clean driving licence
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent)
  • Participation in professional development and training as required
