Overview

Position Overview

 

The Youth Employment Consultant is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of assistance and advice to MAX Solutions participants who are eligible for Smart Skilled and Hired Services.

 

Incumbents may be required to focus on one aspect or perform a variety of activities listed under Key Responsibilities during the course of their employment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities 

 

Manage Caseload

  • Working with a caseload of participants, coordinating service delivery, matching Participants to jobs, canvassing employers, intensive job search assistance and providing post placement support
  • Interview and assess participants using specified assessment tool, to identify support needs and determine optional and mandatory outcomes
  • Utilisation of other appropriate assessments to assist in obtaining evidence to support goals and outcome measures
  • Engage participants in such a way to facilitate ongoing training and development activities, and monitor participant’s participation in activities
  • Manage the participant and ensure the right assistance from other team members and service delivery partners
  • Collaboratively develop and review participant individually tailored employment Plans and measure progress against goals
  • Liaise with external service providers and service delivery partners including YOTS, Aftercare
  • Arrange concurrent servicing where possible with other relevant youth organisations
  • Monitor participant progress in employment and education and other specified activities towards outcome measures
  • Coordinate and monitor effectiveness of support
  • Ensure all KPI’s are met including targets, supportive evidence for outcomes, claims and all service requirements
  • Confirm the participant’s eligibility for service, confirming their identity and explaining the services that MAX Solutions will deliver
  • Ensure that participant file case notes and all other documentation are relevant, and in line with the minimum contractual standards
  • Conduct administrative activities consistent with Smart Skilled and Hired contractual and legislative requirements, and MAX Solutions philosophy and quality standards
  • Promote Max Solutions and Department of Industry Smart Skilled and Hired program to Industry, and referral networks
  • Utilise Department of Industry Smart Skilled and Hired IT platform and any other relevant Max Solutions systems to effectively manage all aspects of service delivery
  • Conduct Participant surveys as directed by contractual requirements.

  

Employer Liaison/ Reverse Marketing

  • Identify and act on employment opportunities for participants through liaison and negotiation with Companies, Industry and Community organizations
  • Negotiate employment opportunities with employers and promoting participants for vacancies
  • Promote MAX Solutions Smart Skilled and Hired services and maintaining a high profile and professional company image
  • Source suitable participants for referral to job vacancies and build effective business relationships with employers
  • Manage active vacancies generated either by the Business Officer or via direct employer listing
  • Undertake an effective screening and shortlisting process by understanding the vacancy requirements and matching the most suitable participants by reviewing the participants ‘person job fit’ profile, resume, experience and overall suitability to the vacancy
  • Support the interview process with the employer and the participant/s and follow up and communicate the outcome providing interview feedback to the stakeholders as required.

 

Participant Training

  • Assist participants to obtain sustainable employment by placing them into appropriate education, training, work experience activities, or other interventions
  • Review the participant’s progress towards overcoming identified vocational and non-vocational vulnerabilities.

 

General

  • Participate in professional development and training as required
  • Participate in MAX Solutions meetings and functions as required
  • Greet and assist participants in a professional manner as per MAX Solutions quality standards
  • Ensure all participant documents, evidence for outcomes and expenditure is correctly recorded in relevant IT platform
  • Any other duties as directed
  • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

Key Skills

 

  • Awareness of vulnerabilities to employment and effects of unemployment and underemployment on youth
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Effective, positive problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Commercial and labour trends awareness in Western Sydney particularly
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Anti-discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity, Workplace Health and Safety, Privacy and Freedom of Information
  • You will be a mature minded individual with a high level of interpersonal communication and organisational skills 
  • Team player, with a demonstrated ability to show initiative, who will professionally and ethically represent the organisation
  • Flexible, outcome focused individual possessing a can-do attitude
  • Computer skills – Intermediate Word, Excel, Access, Internet & Email.

 

Personal Attributes

  • High level of interpersonal communication and organisational skills
  • Experience in working with youth is desirable
  • You should possess an empathetic approach to the participant, and be able to build trust and rapport with the most disadvantaged participants
  • You will be a team player, with a demonstrated ability to show initiative, who will professionally and ethically represent the organisation
  • You must be a flexible, outcome focused individual possessing a can-do attitude.

Required Experience

 

  • Experience in delivering efficient and effective strategies to positively engage with employers and build sustainable relationships
  • Experience in interviewing and assessments would be advantageous
  • Experience with special needs participants such as people with a disability, Non English speaking backgrounds, drug and alcohol dependency, homelessness, domestic violence and psychological disorders is desirable.

Qualifications

 

  • Hold a current and clean driving licence
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check
  • Participation in professional development and training as required.
