  • Project/Position Introduction

Assessments Australia (a MAX Solutions company) is looking for qualified Social Workers or Psychologists with current AHPRA General Registration status, or potentially other tertiary qualified professionals, who are highly skilled in autonomously completing complex, trauma informed assessments of children in Out of Home Care (OoHC) or under Child Protection (CP) orders to join our team of Assessors conducting Relative Kinship Care Assessments of Department for Child Protection (DCP) clients in South Australia (SA).

There are also opportunities for Assessors based outside of South Australia who can complete Relative Kinship Care Assessments of clients who are still linked to DCP SA and have relocated to other states.

Assessments Australia strongly encourages candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with the above mentioned experience to apply.

If you have the above mentioned experience and are looking to add to your broader professional activities or seeking a more flexible work life, please submit your application online today.

This position is casual or sessional in nature, and is well suited as part of your broader professional activities or where you are seeking greater flexibility.  You will have the ability to negotiate your own diary and accept referrals based on your current availability.  In saying this, the greater your capacity is to accept multiple referrals for assessments at one time (i.e. available multiple days/week to conduct assessments within the required timeframes), the more suited you will be to our business needs. Currently, we require Assessors who can commit to completing 2-4 assessments per month.

We require a number of Assessors located in Port Augusta or Whyalla or the Riverland region, or who are willing to travel to any of the aforementioned locations on a regular basis to conduct assessments.

Please note - this is not an office based role.  Assessments are typically conducted at the clients' homes, and the reports are completed in the comfort of your own home office. Your availability to travel to regional locations will be highly regarded (compensation available for costs).

Comprehensive training and accreditation in the assessment tool will be provided, as well as induction and ongoing professional development and support.

To be eligible to apply for these roles you must be an Australian resident or hold an appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa.

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

    Preferred Qualifications, Background and Skills

    • Qualified Social Worker eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) OR a Psychologist with current AHPRA General Registration status ideally
    • Minimum 3 years of experience autonomously completing complex, trauma informed assessments of children in OoHC or under CP orders
    • A sound understanding of the various SA Child Welfare legislations and standards, best practice and current research regarding trauma informed assessments
    • Strong assessment skills (critical thinking, gathering / analysing / synthesising information)
    • Strong face-to-face interviewing skills
    • Strong report writing skills (quality and efficiency)
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Experience in working with indigenous and CALD communities is desirable
    • Step By Step (SBS) 2016 accreditation is desirable but not essential

    Please NOTE:

    • We are able to accept applications from current DCP employees as long as they are accompanied by written approval from the department for the individual to engage as a Contract Assessor with Assessments Australia
