  • Project/Position Introduction

    Assessments Australia (a MAX Solutions company) is looking for Psychologists with current General Registration status with AHPRA or Social Workers eligible for full membership with the AASW, or other similarly tertiary qualified professionals, who have considerable experience completing complex trauma informed Out of Home Care (OoHC) and / or Child Protection (CP) related Assessments to join our team of Assessors performing various Child Welfare Assessments and Reviews.

     

    Currently, we have a need for new Assessors based in Lightning Ridge or Walgett or Coonamble or Coonabarabran or Dubbo or surrounding locations.

     

    We strongly encourage applications from candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

    Overview

    Role

    This position is casual or sessional in nature, and is well suited as part of your broader professional activities, or where you are seeking greater flexibility.  You will have the ability to negotiate your own diary and accept referrals based on your current availability.

     

    Location

    We currently require Assessors who are based in Lightning Ridge or Walgett or Coonamble or Coonabarabran or Dubbo and surrounding areas, as well as the Murrumbidgee area.

     

    Please note, this is not an office based role.  Assessments are typically conducted at the clients' homes, and the reports are completed in the comfort of your own home office.

     

    Training

    Comprehensive training and accreditation in the assessment tool(s) will be provided, as well as induction and ongoing professional development and support.

     

    Eligibility

    To be eligible to apply for these roles you must be an Australian resident, or hold an appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa.  

    The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

     

    Preferred Qualifications, Background and Skills

     

    • Psychologist with current general registration status with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Social Worker eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) ideally
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience autonomously completing complex trauma informed OoHC and / or CP related assessments
    • A sound understanding of the various NSW Child Welfare legislations and standards, best practice and current research regarding trauma informed assessments
    • Step By Step 2016 training and / or accreditation is an advantage
    • Experience working with Indigenous and CALD communities is a strong advantage
    • Strong assessment skills (critical thinking, gathering / analysing / synthesising information)
    • Strong face-to-face interviewing skills
    • Strong report writing skills (quality and efficiency)
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
