Project/Position Introduction


MAX Solutions, Child and Family Services program is looking for professionals with a degree in social work, psychology, or other related qualifications acceptable to apply for these contract positions.


You will need experience completing complex trauma informed Out of Home Care (OoHC) and / or Child Protection (CP) related Assessments to join our team of Assessors performing various Child and Family Services Assessments and Reviews. 


The opportunity


This work is a great option for professionals looking to transition from paid employment positions to contracting work and we will support and guide you as part of this transition. It also offers flexibility for those working part-time in other roles or/and balancing work and family commitments. 


An induction, ongoing professional development and support will also be provided.


About you


  • Degree level qualifications in Social Work (with eligibility to AASW) or degree level qualifications in psychology (NOTE: Candidates with other related tertiary level qualifications may be considered with relevant experience as outlined below.
  • Ideally 3 years of experience autonomously conducting complex, trauma informed assessments of children living in OoHC or under CP orders
  • Step by Step Accreditation desirable
  • A sound understanding of the various legislation and standards, best practice and current research regarding trauma informed assessments
  • Strong assessment skills (critical thinking, gathering / analysing / synthesising information)
  • Strong face-to-face interviewing skills
  • Strong report writing skills (quality and efficiency)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working with indigenous and CALD communities is desirable but not essential
  • Understanding of the Child Safety Principles and commitment to child safety and wellbeing, including having an understanding of children's developmental needs and culturally safe practices
